Greener Bromley Pilot Scheme


Delivered as part of the Bromley Business Growth programmes and funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF), the Greener Bromley Pilot Scheme allows businesses to understand and improve their environmental impact, and develop a structured framework for fostering sustainable business growth.


Businesses can fully control their environmental impact by utilising the Green Mark sustainability professionals, pledging to improve their sustainability and carbon through the Green Mark Accreditation framework. As part of its initiatives, the council aims to provide support & establish a network of businesses working together to make the borough greener.

Submitting an application or meeting the criteria does not guarantee acceptance into the scheme. By applying, you accept all aspects of this guidance. Decisions by the selection panel are final and there is no right of appeal.

What’s the process?

Step 1: Apply
Sign up for Greener Bromley Scheme below.
Step 2: Gain Access & Introduction
If you are selected, you will attend a virtual onboarding session with the Green Mark team and gain access to the online portal and the user- friendly questionnaire.
Step 3: Complete the Questionnaire
Fill in the questionnaire with the assistance of help files, guidance notes and template documents. With ongoing support from the Green Mark team who are available to email, call or meet with virtually to provide assistance.
Step 4: Become Green Mark certified!
Over 12 months our team will help you to identify areas to improve your sustainability and achieve your Green Mark accreditation!

In just 8-12 hours spread over 6 weeks, your business will be accredited and awarded a certification pack, which includes badges and certificates that can be displayed on storefronts and websites, providing a visible and recognisable symbol of your sustainable achievements and commitment to reducing your environmental impact.


This pilot scheme is limited to 10 Bromley businesses so, if you are interested in participating, please sign up by filling in the form by the closing date of 26/07/2024. Places are limited and the application window will close early if the Council deems there are enough applications for this scheme.

Check if you are eligible


To qualify for the Greener Bromley Pilot Scheme your business must:


Be an SME
Be an SME. This could include sole traders, sole directors, partnerships and limited companies (but this is not an exhaustive list).
Be registered or trading in the London Borough of Bromley
Be registered or trading in the London Borough of Bromley
Pay your utility bills directly
Pay your utility bills directly (not wrapped up in a service charge)
Have a dedicated business premises
Have a dedicated business premises (not home working, in any sense)
Be prepared to allow Green Mark to use your company brand logo for campaign marketing purposes
Be prepared to allow Green Mark to use your company brand logo for campaign marketing purposes
Be prepared to share data with the Council via Green Mark

Other Criteria

  • Applicants may be rate payers or non-rate payers
  • Applicants must be the owner or representative of the owner
  • Applicants must not be in liquidation or bankrupt
  • Existing Business rate accounts must be up to date or a payment plan agreed
  • Applicants must meet the relevant subsidy control requirements
  • The business must not have breached regulations and been issued a prohibition notice
